AFRC announces Aviation Resource Management awards

The Directorate of Air, Space and Information Operations at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command recently announced the winners of its annual aviation resource management awards.

The awards recognize Reserve Citizen Airmen and units that demonstrate significant accomplishments and contributions to AFRC’s aviation resource management program.

2017 winners are:

Senior Airman Brittany N. Tussey, 706th Fighter Squadron, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, AFRC Outstanding Aviation Resource Management Airman of the Year. Tussey aided ground response to three in-flight emergencies, establishing communication between aircrews and maintenance and operations specialists. In addition, she created mission accomplishment reports for newly integrated aircrews, enabling 100 percent accuracy of more than 140 tasks per crewmember. Tussey trained new Airmen and certified 15 core tasks, increasing shop qualifications by 33 percent.

Tech. Sgt. Lindsey R. Oliver, 701st Airlift Squadron, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, Outstanding Aviation Resource Management Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. Oliver maintained critical care air transport team mission readiness by tracking 88 aircrew members from 17 different units without any discrepancies. She prepared 31 members for deployment to five locations, enabling safe airlift of 500-plus wounded warriors. Oliver validated physical health assessments and physiological training for 79 aeromedical evacuation crewmembers, ensuring they remained mission qualified.

Senior Master Sgt. Kimberly L. Fisher

, 457th FS, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, Outstanding Aviation Resource Management Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. Fisher led the squadron aviation resource management section, responsible for more than 3,380 sorties and 33,000 ground and flying training events. She tailored training and evaluations from the career field education and training plan by aligning 72 tasks that resulted in five people obtaining skill-level qualifications ahead of time. Finally, Fisher developed a consolidated post-mission review checklist, which increased program accuracy by 30 percent.


The 927th Operations Group, MacDill AFB, Florida, Sergeant Dee Campbell Aviation Resource Management Small Team of the Year Award. The group stood up 24 air evacuation operations teams within 24 hours to support Hurricane Maria evacuation efforts, transporting more than 190 critical patients. The four control centers throughout the group provided high-visibility command and control for alert crews and ensured a quick response to 800 missions. The organization’s successful integration of Reserve “seasoning” training with active-duty counterparts significantly increased trainees’ knowledge.

The 315th Operations Group, JB Charleston, Sergeant Dee Campbell Aviation Resource Management Large Team of the Year. The group tracked more than 51,000 aircrew training accomplishments, ensuring 405 aircrew members maintained critical mission-ready status. It displayed “superb management of resources” through the wing operations center’s expedited launch of 60 presidential support missions. The team members’ relationship with their active-duty hosts makes them the top choice for 40 percent of the Tanker Airlift Control Center’s special missions.
