Reservists, Guardsmen provide surge support to Great Basin fires with MAFFS C-130s Earth Wind and Fire: Reservists own the skies
For the first time in the nearly 70-year history of the Air Force Reserve, all three special mission units have been called to action simultaneously due to a series of catastrophic events that have effected wide swaths of the U.S. Reserve Citizen Airmen from across the country are conducting weather reconnaissance, aerial spray and airborne firefighting missions concurrently at different geographic locations. Air Force Reserve Command contributes 100 percent of the weather reconnaissance and aerial spray capabilities and 25 percent of the Modular Airborne Firefighting System capabilities for the Department of Defense. All three capabilities provide significant contributions to our nation's Defense Support to Civil Authorities missions.

Citizen Airmen from the 701st Airlift Squadron set the bar high by flying the first C-17 low-level pass through the “Mach Loop” and captured another win for their static display at the Yeovilton International Air Day at Royal Naval Air Station, U.K. Friday and Saturday. This was the third year for the Reservists to attend the air show and it provided them an opportunity to train several pilots and crew on the task of flying their C-17 Globemaster III aircraft at low altitudes in what is known as the Mach-Loop. The Mach-Loop derives its namesake from the town that is situated at the circuit’s southernmost point, Machynlleth, Wales.

About 1,600 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division packed 18 C-17 Globemaster IIIs from Joint Base Charleston, S.C. en-route to a a Fort Bragg, N.C. airdrop May 25.

Aircrews from the 315th and 437th Airlift Wings took off the morning of May 25 From Joint Base Charleston in 18 C-17 Globemaster IIIs within seconds of each other as part of a large formation exercise over Carolina skies. Exercise Bonny Jack was a joint service exercise with about 1,600 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The 4th Combat Camera Squadron was officially reactivated today in the Yonkie Auditorium at Joint Base Charleston under the 315th Airlift Wing, and Maj. Hamilton Underwood assumed the helm of the specialized Reserve unit.

U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing participated in an Ability to Survive and Operate Rodeo at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Nov. 4, 2017. In the military of the 21st Century, the enemy can be anywhere, at any time, while often perceived as odorless, faceless and swift. Missiles, mortars and rockets can each be launched within minutes while being outfitted with some pretty nasty chemicals leading to the dawning of protective gear as seen in various Hollywood films.
