Former C-141 Starlifter 701st Airlift Squadron aircrew members pose for a photograph in front of their favorite aircraft at the Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Heritage air park May 11, 2012 . The crew, which included several still active members flew the Starlifter during 70, 80 and 90s, were given access inside the historic static display where they showed their friends and families what the aircraft was like. This weekend a new sign was placed at Spanhoe Field in the UK. The sign marks the airfield where the 315th Troop Carrier Group flew out of during WW II. In the picture is Stephen Barker, a good friend of the wing who donated the new sign. (courtesy photo)

Most of the staff and patients transferred to the newly opened Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. on the campus of the National Naval Medical Center or to the new hospital located at Fort Belvoir, Va.
