We are aware of the Secretary of Defense's announcement regarding the impacts that could result from Sequestration, to include the possibility of civilian furloughs. As troubling as this situation might be, we will continue to perform theater airlift and aeromedical evacuation operations to the best of our ability.
Our civilian workforce, which includes Air Reserve Technicians, is an essential part of the 315th Airlift Wing team and is key to the accomplishment of the many important Department of Defense missions we are tasked with. The Joint Base and Wing leadership teams are here to support you. Our priorities are your wellbeing and mission accomplishment. We can't do our job without you.
In the event of civilian furloughs, we will do everything we can to continue to support you and our mission, and to minimize the impact on our operations.
We await further implementation guidance, and will keep our all of our employees and the public updated with information as it becomes available.
Col. James Fontanella
Commander, 315th Airlift Wing
Joint Base Charleston, S.C.
