ALPENA, Mich. --   With regional stability restored and the threat of hostilities diffused, the 805th Air Expeditionary Wing has been given the order to re-deploy. After nearly a week of providing air mobility to the war fighters, the 805th AEW will return home victorious, leaving the country of Japan and the Republic of Korea in the very capable hands of its leadership.

This is the dramatic scenario setting that ends the deployment phase of Team Charleston's 2008 Operational Readiness Inspection. Though this is the end of hostilities, it is not the end of the inspection. Team Charleston must still prove that it is capable of returning home safely and effectively.

"During this scenario, we brought an important element of air power to the operations here," said Col. Anthony M. Butters, vice commander of the 805th AEW. "The U.S. Air Force along with the worldwide capability of the C-17 Globemaster III answered the call from U.S. forces and the South Korean government. This phase of the inspection has been a success, but we are only half-way to the finish line. The inspection is ongoing, and every Airman needs to remain focused on the job at hand."

The 805th Air Expeditionary Wing's efforts during this ORI resulted in deterring North Korean hostilities against other countries in the region, defending host-nation sovereignty and maintaining regional stability.
