    315th CRF tests mettle in joint-service training mission Patriot Palm

    A 315th Airlift Wing unit finished its most recent joint-service training exercise Tuesday at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Hawaii. Teaming up with FEMA, the FBI, Army, Coast Guard and Marine Corps, the 315th Contingency Response Flight completed Exercise Patriot Palm, a joint-service emergency and natural disaster response exercise, coordinated by the Air Force Reserve, designed to integrate first responders from federal, state and local agencies, and the military by providing rapid response training.

    Puerto Rico Governor Updates Pence on Recovery Efforts

    Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello said he briefed Vice President Mike Pence on the recovery efforts in Puerto Rico and underscored the need for urgent, ongoing support following the devastation from Hurricane Maria.

    DoD Continues to Provide More Response Capacity to Puerto Rico

    The Defense Department is deploying more response capacity to Puerto Rico to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s need for a commodities distribution network able to reach isolated communities and sustained medical support for the island’s residents, a Pentagon spokesman said in a statement.

    C-17 conducts historic mission to Virgin Islands following Irma

    Members of the 14th and 15th Airlift Squadrons delivered a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control mobile tower from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, to the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Sept. 12. The mobile ATC tower was sent in response following Hurricane Irma to assist St. Thomas officials in conducting 24 hour airfield operations for civilian and military aircraft.

    Twice a Reservist, Combat Camera Chief Serving as FEMA Reservist

    When Hurricane Harvey hit the Gulf Coast and landed in Houston, Chief Master Sgt. Matt Proietti, 4th Combat Camera Squadron superintendent, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. knew the distinct possibility existed that Citizen Airmen from his unit may be tasked to document rescue and recovery operations, and he was right. The Chief also knew that he was very likely to be recalled by his other “reserve unit,” the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and he was right again.
