JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. --   Joint Base Charleston's C-17 Globemaster III replica will be displayed for a national television audience at the 2011 Military Bowl, Washington, DC, on Dec. 28.

The Military Bowl, benefiting the USO, will begin at 4:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium, featuring the Air Force Academy Falcons and the Toledo Mud Hens. The mini C-17 will be displayed outside the stadium before and during the game.

The 315th Airlift Wing's mini C-17 has been dedicated to the citizens of South Carolina as a community outreach tool and has been named the Spirit of Hope, Liberty, and Freedom.

Maintained by reservists since its inception in 2004, the mini C-17 is the only one of its kind in the Air Force and has been featured across the country at air shows and the 2010 New York City Veterans Day Parade.

Joint Base Charleston is home to 56 C-17 Globemaster IIIs, the newest and most technologically advanced airlifter in the Air Force's inventory.
