  • Joint Base Charleston C-17 deploys to deliver U.S. Navy's undersea rescue

    A C-17 Globemaster III from Joint Base Charleston joined six other U.S. Air Force C-17s and three C-5M Super Galaxies deployed to Argentina on Nov. 18 to deliver the U.S. Navy's undersea rescue capabilities to aid in the search for the A.R.A. San Juan, an Argentine navy submarine, which went missing in the southern Atlantic Ocean Nov. 15.
  • 437 AW crew provides Maria relief within hours

    Members of the 14th Airlift Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency completed a humanitarian mission in support of Hurricane Maria to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Sept. 23.
  • Joint team delivers relief in Maria aftermath

    Members of the 14th Airlift Squadron, 437th Airlift Wing, delivered 17 pallets containing more than 129,000 pounds of food and water to St. Croix, Virgin Islands in support of relief efforts after Hurricane Maria, Sept. 24.
  • C-17 conducts historic mission to Virgin Islands following Irma

    Members of the 14th and 15th Airlift Squadrons delivered a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control mobile tower from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, to the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Sept. 12. The mobile ATC tower was sent in response following Hurricane Irma to assist St. Thomas officials in conducting 24 hour airfield operations for civilian and military aircraft.
  • JB Charleston provides aid to hurricane victims

    Two C-17 Globemaster III left Joint base Charleston carrying 30.6 tons of relief supplies to Alexandria International Airport, Alexandria, Louisiana in response to Hurricane Harvey Aug. 29.
  • 437th, 315th AWs support Exercise Patriot Sands

    Members of the 14th and 16th Airlift Squadrons, 437th Airlift Wing, recently supported the 315th Airlift Wing Airlift Control Flight during Exercise Patriot Sands, an Air Force Reserve Command exercise, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
  • JB Charleston test new equipment, saves AF millions

    An operational evaluation of new synthetic tie downs and winch cables for the C-17 Globemaster III took place here in November 2016. Tie downs are ropes, cords, straps or chains that secure items during airlift operations; winch cables help adjust the tension on tie downs, securing the load.
