Chief Master Sergeant JOHN-PAUL B. BURKE

Chief Master Sergeant John-Paul B. Burke was the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, S.C. As Command Chief, he provides strategic leadership and direction to more than 1,600 enlisted personnel and was the senior enlisted advisor to the wing commander and staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, and quality of life issues for all assigned enlisted personnel and also serves as their liaison to the commander. Additionally, he served as the functional manager for wing group superintendents and first sergeants. The wing’s mission is to augment the active-duty Air Force's strategic airlift, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation forces in both peacetime and contingency operations while supporting combat operations and humanitarian relief efforts.

CMSgt Burke enlisted in the active duty Air Force in 1996 at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. He served as an Airborne Communications Technician aboard the E-8C J-STARS. While stationed at Robins AFB, the Chief deployed to Rhein Mein Air Base, Germany in support of Operation ALLIED FORCE. In 2003, he transferred to the Air Force Reserves and cross-trained into the Intelligence career field, where his extensive intelligence skills led him to serve in multiple assignments. CMSgt Burke has served overseas in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM and most recently in support of the PACOM Theater Support Package, Republic of Korea. Prior to his current assignment, he served as IMA to the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
