Col Christine Love van Weezendonk is the Commander, 315th Operations Group, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. She is responsible for the command of seven squadrons to include the staff and equipment necessary to operate and deploy C-17A aircraft for worldwide contingencies. She leads over 600 personnel to train and maintain combat skills in global mobility airlift, aerial delivery, aeromedical evacuation, contingency response, and combat camera operations.
Col van Weezendonk earned her commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 2001. Following Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, she attended T-1 Pilot Instructor Training at Randolph AFB, Texas, and C-17 Pilot Initial Qualification, Aircraft Commander and Instructor Aircraft Commander training programs at Altus AFB.
After serving over 12 years on active duty, she joined the Air Force Reserve in 2013. Since joining the Reserve, she has served at the squadron, group, wing, and MAJCOM levels to include serving on the Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command, Commander’s Action Group. As a member of the selectively manned team, she provided strategic recommendations, messaging, and policy advice in support of 67,000 Air Force Reserve Airmen, 334 aircraft, and 35 wings. Prior to her current position, Col van Weezendonk was the Deputy Commander, 340th Flying Training Group headquartered at JB San Antonio, Texas.
Col van Weezendonk Is a Senior Pilot with more than 2,600 flying hours in the C-17, T-1, and T-37 including 345 combat hours in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2011, she deployed to Afghanistan as an Air Mobility Advisor for the Director of Mobility Forces and in direct support of II Marine Expeditionary Force, joint, and coalition forces.
