Doug Melville, great nephew of Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr., recounts memories of Davis before the unveiling of the First Flight Shrine portrait at the 119th Wright Bothers Anniversary of Powered Flight ceremony hosted at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, N.C., December 17, 2022. Davis was inducted into the First Flight Shrine during a ceremony that honored his legacy as well as Orville and Wilbur Wright, and the U.S. Air Force’s 75th anniversary.
