Helene is expected to strengthen into a hurricane within the next 36 hrs
Tropical Storm Helene is expected to strengthen into a hurricane within the next 36 hrs as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico. The storm is projected to intensify and make landfall on the afternoon of Sept. 26th, moving rapidly northward. With the current track of the storm, JB Charleston can expect sustained 25 knot winds gusting up to 45 knots between 8 p.m. Sept. 26 and 8 a.m. Sept. 27. Thunderstorms and rain showers are expected during that time with rainfall estimated to be 2.5 inches.
