A visit to the 315th Airlift Wing Feb. 25, 2011 at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. gave cadets from the U.S. Air Force ROTC Detachment 775 the opportunity to explore the mission of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

More than 20 cadets from the Uiversity of south Carolina traveled to JBC to explore the day-to-day mission of the 315 AW here.

The cadets spent time with instructors from the 373rd Training Squadron here who gave the cadets an overview of the time, energy and resources needed to prepare the Airmen who work to maintain the C-17 Globemaster III workforce here.

A visit to the Joint Base Charleston metals technology shop allowed metals technicians to show the cadets how innovation in technology works. The metals technicians demonstrated their abilities to manufacture custom fabricated parts; moreover, the techs showed the cadets how the use of state-of-the-art numerical control systems saves the Air Force money and valuable time.

Airmen from the 300th Airlift Squadron here gave the cadets a static tour of a C-17 Globemaster III, and the cadets were able to sit down and ask questions to several officers during a roundtable session hosted by Col. Steven Chapman, commander 315 AW.
