Master Sgt. Robert W. Grimsley, flight chief for the 315th Airlift Wing Security Forces Squadron here, was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal April 13, 2011 after he volunteered 54 days to support the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group in Iraq.

During his volunteerism and support, Sergeant Grimsley unloaded litter patients via helicopter and ambulance for immediate transport into the Joint Base Balad Emergency Department. In addition to patient transport, he assisted in weekly training for new volunteers, and transported numerous amounts of patient baggage to the Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility.

The 332 EMDG comprises approximately 357 professional and support staff from all four armed services working alongside civilians and contractors to provide state-of-the-art medical care. The medical group is the only air-evacuation hospital in Iraq and provides a full-spectrum of medical services for coalition and U.S. forces throughout the Iraqi theater of operations.
