Airmen from the 315th Airlift Wing took a pause in their day-to-day missions to attended Winter Wingman Day 2011 here Feb. 5-6 in an effort to help reinforce the Wingman concept, build resilient Airmen and focus on unit health.

"The training is designed to help Airmen strengthen their physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being," said Lt. Col. Maureen M. Robinson, commander 315 AW Force Support Squadron.

The strength of the 315 AW training came from strong leadership and training skills, small group discussions and interaction among co-workers. The cohesiveness of the training was reinforced through interactive lectures, effective slides and embedded video.

"The goal is to improve resiliency through structured discussions and emphasize the importance of being vigilant wingmen," said Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner, commander Air Force Reserve Command, in this month's issue of Citizen Airmen.

Together, the strength and cohesiveness of the 315 AW Winter Wingman Day 2011 empowered and encouraged Airmen with the skills they need to overcome daily obstacles brought on by stress and the changing demands of every-day life.

"Although we designated specific training times through the March Unit Training Assemblies to cover 'Wingman Day' topics, we must all remember that each day is a Wingman's day," said Col. Steven J. Chapman, 315th AW commander. "Wingman's Day doesn't end when the refresher training is complete or when we complete our UTA. Being a Wingman is a daily life practice."

Senior Master Sgt. Edward J. Pankey, the project officer for the event, organized the training for the wing.

"I want to thank Sergeant Pankey for leading the way," said Col. Chapman. "All of our leaders and small group facilitators at the group and wing levels were well prepared and really made this training a success and worth attending."
