Civic leaders from the 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, S.C. and 919th Special Operations Wing, Duke Field, Fla. joined flight crew and leadership during a two-day training mission and tour of Nellis AFB, Nev. Jan. 13-14, 2011.

The educational tour encompassed several mission briefings that included visiting a remotely piloted aircraft squadron and a photovoltaic array solar panel field, responsible for generating 15 megawatts of solar power for Nellis AFB.

While in flight, local leaders viewed first-hand the continuous medical training needed to maintain life-saving skills with the 315th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron here.

The tour concluded with the group witnessing the precision flying skills of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the Air Force's official air demonstration team.

Civic leader tours provide the opportunity for the USAF Reserve to show employers and members of the community the talents and skills reservists posses while performing their missions locally and globally.
