315 AW honors newest NCOs and Senior NCOs

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- An induction ceremony was held November 20, 2010 at the 315th Airlift Wing auditorium to honor 13 newly promoted staff sergeants and nine noncommissioned officers inducted into the senior NCO ranks.

The guest speaker for the ceremony was retired Chief Master Sgt. Ben Futrell, former command chief for the 315 AW.

"The Air Force expects you to be a leader and those stripes signify that," said Mr. Futrell. "You've always been good team members, now the Air Force expects you to be good team leaders. Wear those stripes proudly"

Chief Master Sgt. GiGi Manning, 315 AW command chief, presented the Charleston Airmen with their Certificate of Induction, and Col. Steven Chapman, 315 AW commander, gave them a 315 AW coin and some words of wisdom.

"Leadership is a journey, not a destination," said Colonel Chapman. "Integrity is the first and foremost the cornerstone of every great organization, and the 315th is a great organization. The easy part is done ... the rank is on. Now you have to go out and be great leaders."
