Chaplain's UTA thought for the day Published Aug. 20, 2010 By Chaplain (Maj.) Craig Abee 315th Airlift Wing CHARLESTON AFB, S.C. -- Jerry Clower tells a story about Uncle Versie and his 12 or so sons. Seems there was one piece of chicken left one night at dinner. With every one eyeing that last piece of chicken, the lights flickered off. In the dark Uncle Versie started screaming bloody murder. When the light came back on there were 12 forks in the back of Uncle Versie's hand. Some folks try to get by with stuff when no one is looking. They reach for the chicken when they think no one is looking. Some folks try to get by with stuff even when they know someone is looking. They are asking to be stuck with a fork. Some folks try to get by with stuff and they don't care who is looking. They take the chicken and never look back. We could all look around with the people we work with, and live with and are neighbors of and put each person in one of these categories. It is how we know who to trust, who to lend to with the knowledge you will get your money back from, and who we know we will never get back from. The flip side of this is the people who do right and don't care who is looking. There are those who do the right thing when they know someone is looking. And there are those who do the right thing when no one is looking. These are the people you trust your life with. They don't just know what integrity is - they live it. And, they don't have any scars in the back of their hands. In need of a good laugh - check out Jerry Clower on YouTube. Stay up to date with the 315th Airlift Wing at http://www.315aw.afrc.af.mil/.
