Two 315th Airlift Wing chaplains conducted casualty ramp training on a C-17 Globemaster III here July 27.

The training walked through the steps of a ramp ceremony which gives honor to a fallen servicemember as he is loaded onto the ramp of a transport plane for his final journey home.

Thirty Air Force chaplain candidates participated in the training. During the training, they heard testimonies from chaplains and other Airmen who have participated in actual ramp ceremonies.

The training was a combined effort by Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Carl Yost and Chaplain (Maj.) John M. Painter with the 315 AW working with the 437th Airlift Wing Chaplains Office and 628th Joint Base Charleston honor guard members.

"A ramp ceremony is the most visible reminder, and tribute, of service before self," said Capt. Tabitha H. Rand, a maintenance officer with the 315 AW.
