Airmen first, first sergeants always Published June 30, 2010 By Chief Master Sgt. Gigi B. Manning 315 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Commentary -- As first sergeants, we are responsible for providing sound advice to the commander on a wide range of topics. Many Airmen may think first sergeants only serve as disciplinarians, but our role is far more reaching. Much of our time is devoted to issues covering health, mentoring, well being, career progression, recognition and professional development of all assigned members of the 315th Airlift Wing. Our duty hours may be long and irregular at times, but our focus is sharp when it comes to issues that have a direct impact on 315 AW personnel and units. We are all about the mission and ensuring that you, the Airmen, have what you need to be successful. As first sergeants, we are successful when YOU are successful.
