Changing of the guard

Lieutenant Colonels, Edward Paylor, 317th Airlift Squadron, and Charles Drouillard of the 81st Aerial Port Squadron assumed their new commands during ceremonies held  May 16 at Charleston Air Force Base S.C.

Colonels Terry Lawrence, 315th Operations Group Commander and Bill Stephens 315th Mission Support Group Commander presided over the change of commands.

Lt. Col. Edward Paylor assumed command of the 317th AS from Col. Russell Fingar. Col. Fingar, a Citadel graduate, commanded the 317th for three years and will assume the role of vice wing commander June 1, from Col. Mike Speer who is retiring from the 315th AW.

Lt. Col. Drouillard assumed command of the 81st APS from Lt Col Greg Vaughan who is also retiring from the 315th AW and held his retirement ceremony after the change of command. Lt. Col. Vaughan, also a Citadel graduate and Greenville S.C. native, commanded the 81st APS for nearly two years.

Col. Fingar and Lt. Col. Vaughan were presented with Meritorious Service Medals for their outstanding service while commanding their respective squadrons.
