New guidance for all Department of the Air Force military, civilian, dependent and contractor personnel on Charleston Air Force Base S.C. states that motorcycle riders must obtain a Motorcycle Rider Identification Card from the Naval Weapon Station Visitors Center.

Motorcycle operators that do not possess the MRID will be denied entry to the base after October 1.

Between April 26 and October 1 riders with proof of training and a valid driver's license with motorcycle endorsement will be acceptable. After October 1 the MRID will be the only acceptable proof of training.

315th Airlift Wing assigned reservists, ARTs and civilians wishing to obtain a MRID must first report to the wing safety office to receive a letter of authorization.

Riders must provide the wing safety office a driver's license with motorcycle endorsement, current motorcycle registration, proof of insurance, Motorcycle Safety Foundation Card, Sport Bike course card (if applicable) and a completed AMC Form 91.

The purpose of this change is to bring 315 AW military and civilians in line with the current requirements at the installation formerly known as Naval Weapons Station.

If you have any questions you may contact the wing safety office at 963-2428.
