Jeff Kelly 315 AW Public Affairs CHARLESTON AFB, S.C. -- The 437th and the 315th Airlift Wing Maintenance Groups have distinguished themselves by being awarded the 2009 Daedalian Weapon System Maintenance Trophy for the second year in a row. The Daedalian Trophy is an annual award given to the best maintenance groups in the Air Force. Team Charleston will now represent the Air Mobility Command at the Air Force level. "This is the first time in my career that I have heard of back-to-back Daedalian wins," said Colonel James Joyce, 315th AW MXG commander. "The maintainers of the 315th and 437th Maintenance Groups set a very high standard and this second win verifies the group's continued good work. What a way to end my Air Force career." Team Charleston's maintainers accumulated some impressive statistics in route to their second consecutive Daedalian Trophy. In 2009, Team Charleston executed over 6,900 missions, which moved more than 150,000 passengers and 77,000 tons of cargo in direct support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Team Charleston further excelled during the 2009 Air Mobility Command Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program Inspection where they received an "Outstanding" rating in every category; the first time in Air Mobility Command history. Team Charleston's success was further solidified by earning an "Excellent" rating during the Air Mobility Command Inspector General Unit Compliance Inspection, with the Groups receiving 10 outstanding performer and five team recognitions. "Congratulations to the men and women of the 315th and 437th MXGs for their 2009 Daedalian Weapon System Maintenance Trophy win," said Col. Steven J. Chapman, 315 AW commander. "This obviously represents hard work, dedication and exemplary team work! I don't think there have ever been back-to-back nominees from AMC and I can't think of a more deserving group of professionals." The professionalism and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the men and women of the 437th and the 315th Maintenance Groups reflect great credit upon themselves, AMC and the United States Air Force.
