Word-of-mouth advertising has always been one of the most effective ways for an organization to drum-up business and support. The Air Force Reserve knows this, and that is why they have been utilizing the "Get 1 Now" program for the better part of a decade.

The Get One Now Program is a recruiting incentive that utilizes reservists that are not traditionally recruiters to help in the process of finding new recruits. It was started in October 2000, and has been an overwhelming success.

The pleasure that everyday reservists express about their own experiences within their respective Air Force Reserve careers is a valuable tool that recruiters can use to show perspective recruits the benefits of service within the Reserve by offering them rewards for their recruiting efforts.

Referral Awards are based on military tradition, the Get One Now awards are primarily commemorative coins. For every referral submitted, the Reservist receives a Referral Coin Award numbered one through 10, the number corresponding to the number of the referrals. Referrals may be accumulated over time. The Get One Now program provides these coins for each referral whether or not the person actually enlists.

This year, additional awards have been added and improved for Reservists who bring people in the Air Force Reserve. These awards can be such things as iPods and digital cameras to laptops and flat screen T.V.'s. The more accessions a person has in a fiscal year the higher the value of the award.

The idea behind the Get One Now program is to utilize all the Air Force Reserve manpower to recruit new Airman. Our Reservists work hard but the program gives everyone a chance to help bring in the type of people wanted in the Air Force Reserve.

"I personally believe the reservist referral program is one of the best referral programs available to the Air Force Reserve, said Senior Master Sergeant William Jones, 315th AW recruiter. "I highly recommend this program because normally reservists will refer a higher quality, more qualified applicant. Although a reservist's main job may not be recruiting, by wearing the uniform we are all recruiters."
