Due to Hurricane Hanna, 315th Airlift Wing Commander Colonel Timothy Wrighton has ordered that the Unit Training Assembly for 6-7 September 2008 is cancelled. Please contact your individual units to verify if you would like to reschedule this UTA or will take an excusal for the weekend.

Charleston AFB will be shut down. In addition, the Air Force Ball, originally scheduled for 6 September, is now rescheduled for 27 September.

437th AW Commander Colonel Red Millander believes this to be in the best interest of base personnel and will allow them to fully focus on preparing the base, themselves and their families for the possible arrival of Hurricane Hanna. More details to follow, including instructions for how refunds due to leave/deployments/TDYs will be handled.

The 315th AW Family Support office has provided the following tips.

Make sure you have the necessary staples in your house to survive should you be impacted by adverse weather. As a baseline, you should have the following items:

· Flashlight and extra batteries

· Portable battery-operated radio and extra batteries

· First-aid kit

· Emergency food and water

· Non-electric can opener

· Essential medicines

· Cash and credit cards

· Sturdy shoes and a change of clothing

· Copies of important papers, including bank accounts, insurance and
household inventory records

Make sure to take care of yourself and be a wingman to others who may need
your assistance!
