The 315th Force Support Squadron gained a new commander, Maj. Bobbie-Jean Johnson, during an assumption of command ceremony Feb. 4, 2023 at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.

Lt. Col. Robert Wengerter, commander of the 315th Mission Support Group, presided over the ceremony.

The change of command ceremony is a military tradition representing a handover of authorities and responsibilities within a unit or command. The colors flown at every ceremony represent the history, tradition, and accomplishments of that command. The passing of colors from an out-going commander to an in-coming commander ensures that the unit and its members are never without official leadership. This time honored tradition represents a continuation of trust, and signifies an allegiance of Airmen to their unit’s commander.

Johnson was born in Calais, Maine and joined the Air Force in February of 1999. She served over seven years of active duty before joining the Air Force Reserves in February of 2007 and eventually commissioning in December 2011.

Johnson said that she is excited to lead change and work alongside the Airmen of the 315th FSS.
