The 315th Civil Engineer Flight gained a new commander, Maj. Andrew S. Folz, during a change of command ceremony March 19, 2023, at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.

Lt. Col. Robert Wengerter, 315th Mission Support Group commander, presided over the ceremony as Lt. Col. Marcella R. Whitfield, outgoing 315 CEF commander, relinquished command and Folz took command of the 315 CEF.

The change of command ceremony is a military tradition representing a handover of authorities and responsibilities within a unit or command. The colors flown at every ceremony represent the history, tradition, and accomplishments of that command. The passing of colors from an outgoing commander to an incoming commander ensures that the unit and its members are never without official leadership. This time-honored tradition represents a continuation of trust and signifies an allegiance of Airmen to their unit’s commander.

Folz previously commanded the 567th Red Horse Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.

Folz said that he is excited to lead, change and work alongside the Airmen of the 315th CEF.
