The 315th Operations Support Squadron welcomed a new commander during an assumption of command ceremony today at the Yonkee Auditorium here.

Col. Caroline Evernham, 315th Operations Group commander, provided the opening remarks and congratulated Lt. Col. Thomas J. McNamara on his new role as the 315th OSS commander.

"Lt. Col. McNamara is the right person at the right time for this role," said Evernham.  " I would especially like to thank his family for all of their support and allowing him to serve with us.  You are just as important in helping to accomplish the mission as the rest of us."

McNamara entered the Air Force in 1984 through the United States Air Force Academy and joined the Air Force Reserve here in 1999 after separating from Active Duty.  He has logged more than 7,200 hours in military aircraft, including 800 hours of combat time during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

The 315th OSS  is comprised of a Wing Operations Center (WOC) and offices of current operations, weapons and tactics, aircrew training, life support, operations plans and computer support. It also provides the analytical infrastructure that sustains operations and training for the 315th OG and 315th AW.
