Blue Angels air show this weekend Published April 15, 2010 By 315th Public Affairs 315th Public Affairs CHARLESTON S.C. -- The Blue Angels landed at Charleston Air Force Base Thursday morning in preparation for their two air shows this weekend over Charleston Harbor. The world famous Navy and Marine pilots will hold a practice run over the harbor and Cooper River areas Friday between 2:30 and 4 p.m. and two one hour performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The city is suggesting the Maritime Center, Waterfront Park, Patriots Point and The Battery as the prime viewing areas but anywhere on the downtown and Mount Pleasant waterfronts will allow spectators a good view of the shows. The pedestrian walkways on the Arthur Ravenel Bridge will be closed during both shows this weekend, and the practice run on Friday, but will remain open to vehicular traffic although at a lowered speed limit. Parking garages will be available downtown, some charging a flat $5 and others charging hourly rates. There will be also shuttle services available for those trying to avoid the traffic. If you have any questions about times or planning you trip this weekend the Post and Courier is full of good information or click to view a map of parking and viewing areas.
