JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- Several units of the 315th Airlift Wing held change of command ceremonies this weekend at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.
Col. John Gurrieri assumed command of the 315th Operations Group during an assumption of command ceremony held here Sunday.
Family, friends, and Team Charleston members attended the 315 OG change of command ceremony to welcome incoming commander Lt. Col. John Gurrieri.
The 315th Operations Group, together with the active duty 437th Airlift Wing provides a large part of Air Mobility Command's Global Reach airlift capability. These rapid, flexible and responsive air mobility units promote stability around the world by keeping America's capability and character highly visible. The OG is also active in presidential support missions and USAID humanitarian missions.
The 315 AW also welcomed incoming 317th Airlift Squadron commander Lt. Col. John Ramsey, III, who assumed command of the 317 AS during a change of command ceremony from Lt. Col. John Gurrieri Saturday.
The major responsibilities of the 317 AS are to maintain combat-ready aircrews in support of ever-changing global taskings such as contingencies, humanitarian relief, presidential support and exercises.
“We couldn’t ask for a finer command team,” Gurrieri said.
Additionally, the 315 AW welcomed incoming commander of the 315th Contingency Response Flight. Lt. Col. Allison Garbade assumed command of the 315 CRF, from Lt. Col. John Ramsey, III, during a change of command ceremony Saturday.
The 315 CRF is one of the most active Reserve CRF's in the Air Force. The unit is consistently striving to maintain preparedness, training, and leadership to ensure mission accomplishment for both its members as well as its affiliated units. The CRF is an integral part of training both aircrews and airlift users in operations and exercises to ensure that the mission is achieved safely and efficiently.
Gurrieri said, “together the 315 AW remains reserve ready with this fine leadership team.”
