Sam Canines for Veterans
Sam, a service dog with Canines for Veterans, poses for a picture April 20, 2013 while working with 1st Lt. Shawna Rogers, 315th Airlift Wing intelligence officer, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Service dogs help wounded veterans who have mobility and/or post-traumatic stress disorders. Sam is currently in training, and she will eventually be placed with a wounded veteran. Over the course of the UTA weekend Sam interacted with Rogers and other members of the 315 AW to build confidence and increase social skills, which is part of her training.
