U.S. Air Force tankers moved to NATO’s Eastern Flank, strengthen collective defense
A U.S. KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft from the Air Force Reserve Command’s 514th Air Mobility Wing, primarily stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., and a U.S. KC-135 Stratotanker from the 186th Air Refueling Wing, part of the Mississippi Air National Guard, sit on the runway at Powidz Air Base, Poland, March 16, 2023, enhancing U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s readiness, and demonstrating U.S. European Command’s commitment to bolstering security on NATO’s eastern flank. Postured along NATO’s eastern flank, both Wings participated in Copper Arrow, an annual U.S. exercise aimed at enhancing readiness and operational relationships with NATO Allies and partners, while also demonstrating U.S. EUCOM’s ability to rapidly deploy large combat credible forces and equipment throughout Europe.
