  • Opted into BRS? Don’t forget this important step

    A major benefit of the Blended Retirement System (BRS) is the free money you can now get from your service: Each time you contribute to your Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement account, your service will match it, up to 5 percent of your pay.
  • FYI: Blended Retirement System

    One of the most wide-reaching and significant changes to military pay and benefits over the last 70 years took effect Jan. 1, 2018, with the implementation of the Uniformed Services Blended Retirement System, known as BRS. Nearly 1.6 million current service members have the option to remain in the current legacy “high-3” retirement system or to choose the BRS. Opt-in eligible service members have a year to make their retirement system election. The open period for the majority of service members is from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.

    Air Force leaders recently announced the Air Force’s continuation pay rates which are part of the new Blended Retirement System.
  • DoD Offers Course for Using Blended Retirement System Comparison Calculator

    Service members eligible to opt into the Blended Retirement System in 2018 can take a free course on the online comparison calculator, to help choose between the BRS or the legacy retirement system, Defense Department officials said.
  • Leader training on Blended Retirement System available via mobile app

    The online Blended Retirement System leader course, released in June, is designed to educate leaders on the new retirement system. The training provides both military and civilian leaders of Airmen with a working knowledge of the BRS and the Defense Department plan to educate the force prior to implementation on Jan. 1, 2018.
  • Blended retirement system training now available

    Online training designed to educate Airmen about the new Blended Retirement System, the Defense Department system with changes on the current military retirement system, is now available via Joint Knowledge Online course number P-US1330. The course is also available to those without a Common Access Card -- to include family members -- via an alternate website.
