  • New DoD policy bars GPS-enabled devices in deployed settings

    Deployed service members are going to have to ditch their "geolocation devices" in response to a new memo from Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick M. Shanahan. This includes physical fitness aids, applications in phones that track locations, and other devices and apps that pinpoint and track the location of individuals.
  • Hornets supportive of Charleston Reservist's deployment

    When Charleston Reservist Staff Sgt. Della Creech was given the opportunity to work as an HR co-op for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets she was thrilled. But midway through her co-op, the then special handling joint inspector with the 81st Aerial Port Squadron, here, was tasked with a Middle East deployment as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Despite her fears, Creech received the full support of her Hornets’ supervisors and coworkers—especially James Jordan, Jr., the team’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer.
  • Air Force announces change to deployments

    The Air Force announced another milestone under the chief of staff’s number two focus area: Strengthening Joint Leaders and Teams. Airmen deploying on individual taskings will now deploy in teams of three or more. This move will provide mutual support during the entire deployment continuum. This directive, effective Nov. 30, 2017, is referred to as “Deployed Teaming.”
  • Hundreds welcome 560th RED HORSE Airmen home

    During the warm evening hours of Nov. 3, hundreds of eager family members and friends anxiously awaited for the arrival of more than 90 Citizen Airmen returning from a long deployment in the Middle East. The Airmen, assigned to the 560th RED HORSE Squadron, here, deployed together.
  • 386th ECES Fire Fighters play hard, train hard

    The 386th ECES Fire Department is conducting its annual live fire training. The training is designed to expose Airmen to active fires in a controlled environment.
  • APS sharpens skills through training

    A group of 19 Aerial Port personnel from the 38th Aerial Port Squadron board a C-17 on cool brisk morning at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. The destination is a short flight to Dobbins Air Reserve Base, home of the Air Transportation Proficiency Center and Deployment Readiness Training. The ATPC’s goal is to train Reserve Airman in the Air Transportation career field to be proficient in their career field.
