Government is reopened.

Joint Base Charleston and the 315th Airlift Wing returned to normal base operations today.

The president has signed a continuing resolution extension through Feb.8, 2018. The office of personnel management directed federal employees to return to work Tuesday, Jan. 23.

The government shutdown began after midnight Friday Jan. 19, and unlike the shutdown in 2013 which last a week, this one only lasted three days.

The 2013 federal government shutdown is estimated to have had an impact on the country upwards to about $24 billion (according to the Standard and Poor’s ratings agency).

It is still too early to gauge the full impact of this recent shut down.
