  • Citizen Airmen help keep C-17s safe during Dorian

    A handful of Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Reservists spent their Labor Day with their active duty teammates to evacuate 24 C-17 Globemaster IIIs ahead of Hurricane Dorian. Fifteen Reservists from the 315th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 315th Maintenance Squadron here joined members of the 437th Maintenance Group to clear and launch the C-17s, Sept. 2, to Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. Charleston’s remaining C-17s were already away from the base on various missions and were not involved.
  • JB Charleston commander recalls all personnel, terminates limited evacuation order

    All personnel are hereby ordered/authorized to return to their residence as soon as possible, but when it is safe to do so given the weather and road conditions from their safe haven location, but no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, Sunday, Sept. 8. At that time all claimable travel, lodging, and per diem entitlements will cease. Col. Adams will approve any requests for exceptions to the authorized entitlements, due to extenuating circumstances, on a case-by-case basis. If unable to return safely by the designated return time, personnel must request an exception to this order through their chain of command.

    Nine Citizen Airmen of the 315th Airlift Wing have been selected for promotion to lieutenant colonel by the Air Force Reserve Command 2019 promotion board.
  • Exercise Dragon Lifeline provides joint force, rapid deployment training

    Service members from Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, practiced their ability to rapidly deploy personnel and assets during Exercise Dragon Lifeline here Aug. 7 to Aug. 9, 2019.
  • New DOD Program Leaves Sexual Predators Nowhere to Hide

    A new Defense Department program called Catch a Serial Offender, or "CATCH," aims to make it more difficult for perpetrators of sexual assault to evade identification and capture by law enforcement. While the new tool isn't good news for offenders, it's expected to allow victims making a restricted report of sexual assault — a reporting mechanism that allows a victim to remain confidential — to help investigators do a better job of finding wrongdoers and bring them to justice.
  • 315th MSG welcomes new commander

    The 315th Airlift Wing welcomed a new mission support group commander during a change of command ceremony Saturday, June 1, at the Base Theatre here. Col. Cherie Roff passed command of the 315th MSG on to Col. Bobby Degregorio during the ceremony.
