315 AW earns Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Published July 13, 2013 By Senior Airman Bobby Pilch 315th Airlift Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Air Force Reserve Command announced Thursday the 315th Airlift Wing is being awarded an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for accomplishments during 2012. The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award was authorized by the Department of the Air Force General Order Number 1, Jan. 6, 1954. The citation is awarded by the Secretary of the Air Force to numbered units which have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious service or outstanding achievement. The award ribbon was designed by the Institute of Heraldry, U.S. Army.
