Lowcountry Veterans seeking employment have an opportunity for a little job-seeking help from the VA and local employers at the Sixth Annual Veterans Welcome Home Job Fair Event in the Charleston Area Convention Center Aug. 8, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The VA is inviting Veterans, service members and their family members to attend the free event. Welcome Home is an annual, free event open to all Veterans, service members and their families.

VA officials say this event is a "one-of-a-kind hiring fair for both employers and job seekers."

The event will feature a workshop for veterans and other military job seekers stating at 9 a.m. The workshop focuses on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation, and interviewing.

This University of Phoenix sponsored event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Charleston Chamber, Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service, South Carolina Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, SC DEW, SC Works, NBC News, and other local partners.

"Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face-to-face hiring fair efforts across the country.
