Master Sergeant MASTER SERGEANT EVERETT HOPKINS

MSgt Everett Hopkins is the Air Force Reserve Recruiter for the 351st Recruiting Squadron, 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston- Charleston, South Carolina. He is responsible for filling Air Force Reserve manpower requirements by accessing the needs of those in the community in which he serves and providing highly qualified applicants for enlistment. MSgt Hopkins prepares applicants for enlistment with required academic testing, physical examinations, and case-file documentation preparation. He assists all Development and Training Flight (D&TF) members by providing mentoring and training before departure for Basic Military Training (BMT) in coordination with the D&TF Flight Coordinator.
 
MSgt Hopkins entered into Active Duty with the U.S. Army in August 2002 and arrived to his first duty station at Fort Hood Army base, Killeen Texas in September 2003. He was assigned to 1st and 21st Field Artillery Battalion Headquarters Headquarters Services Battery where he performed duties as a Fire Support Specialist in the Brigades Fire Support Element responsible for the accurate and timely indirect fires of Artillery and other kinetic strike assets. In March 2004, MSgt Hopkins was deployed to Iraq for combat operations under the task organization of the 5th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom II (OIF). Assigned at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Falcon in a portion of the Al-Rasheed district in southern Baghdad from March 2004 – June 2005. During that time he worked in the Tactical Operations Center which oversaw the task forces' daily patrols, ambushes, raids, convoy escorts, target acquisition, and counter-battery cannon fires. He contributed to the first-ever free elections held in Iraq in January 2005. He later deployed a second time in October 2006 in support of OIF 06-08 to FOB Paliwoda Iraq assigned to the 3rd Battalion 8th Cavalry Regiment. The battalion was detached from the 3rd “Greywolf" Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division and operated under the control of the 3rd “Panther" Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division (later replaced by 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division) in the Multi-National Division (North) (MND) where he was the Non-Commissioned Officer-In-Charge (NCOIC) of all counter-battery radar and counter-battery indirect fires assets and operations. Additionally, he was the Senior Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SUAV) pilot and trainer conducting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance operations deep within Salah Ad Din Province leading to the formation of a dozen "Sons of Iraq local security elements, one of the first units in MND-North to do so. He left active duty in April 2008 and immediately re-entered as a Reservist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, joining the 81st Aerial Port Squadron as Air Transportation Helper. He has also been assigned to the 80th, 38th, and 94th Aerial Port Squadrons. While assigned to the 94th Aerial Port Squadron, MSgt Hopkins deployed in April 2020 thru October 2020 to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar as the Air Terminal Operations Center Duty Officer responsible for overseeing the 8th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron's Aerial Port Operations and all functions within the aerial port. Those duties included ensuring the seamless upload and download of passengers and cargo through the Department of Defense logistic network. In October 2022 MSgt Hopkins was assigned to the 351st Recruiting Squadron and continues to perform his duties therein. Prior to becoming a Recruiter, MSgt Hopkins was the Awards and Decorations Program Manager, 94th Aerial Port Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins Georgia.
