CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The 315th Airlift Wing and Red Bull are hosting a 2019 Red Bull Paper Wings (paper plane) competition, a qualifier for the world championships, April 13, 2019, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Joint Base Charleston, S.C.
The competition will be held in Nosedock 2, (near the 437th/315th Maintenance Group building). There will be several prizes, Sticky Fingers BBQ and lots of Red Bull and Red Bull swag.
Reservists may participate during the UTA at commander’s discretion. Anyone on base over the age of 18 will be allowed to compete.
Registrations is now open for the fifth edition of Red Bull Paper Wings, the world’s largest paper plane competition. Some of the world’s best pilots will take on their rivals in hundreds of national qualifiers for the chance of winning a spot in the Red Bull Paper Wings World Final in May.
Each pilot will be armed with a single A4 sheet of paper, ready to impress fans and judges across three distinct categories: distance, airtime, and aerobatics.
This year, tens of thousands of self-trained pilots, will put their outstanding creative skills to the test to enter the world’s leading paper plane contest. Beginning today, applicants can find a local qualifier near them by going to www.redbullpaperwings.com, downloading the Red Bull Paper Wings App or entering an aerobatics challenge via our Instagram channel.
Once regional finalists are selected, the successful pilots from around the world will descend on Salzburg, Austria’s Hangar-7 for the World Final.
