While the temperature outside was a bit frightful, the mood was quite delightful in the base chapel annex Dec. 8. Donning reindeer antlers, Santa caps and holiday sweaters, about a dozen members of the Team Charleston Spouses Club showed up at the crack of dawn to stuff holiday cookies in bags and boxes.

They sorted thousands of cookies and produced more than 20 medium Postal Service boxes of the seasonal treats to be shipped to deployed service members from Joint Base Charleston, S.C.  Club members also prepared about 500 lunch bags filled with cookies for service members in the dorms.

"The support for our second annual cookie drop was overwhelming," said Janet Chapman, wife of 315th Airlift Wing Commander Col. Steven Chapman.

Mrs. Chapman said the amount of donations and support the club received this year exceeded expectations. Most of the cookies came from the West Ashley High School Culinary class, and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce which doubled its support and donations this year.

"It's nice to see that people care about our men in women in uniform - especially during the holidays," she added.
