A free family picnic is scheduled for June 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the base picnic grounds here.

The picnic will celebrate the 2010 Year of the Air Force Family and is open to all active duty and reserve military, civilian base employees, base contractors, retirees and family members.

The picnic offers a free lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, side dishes and beverages served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids have the opportunity to enjoy the Kids Zone giant inflatables "Jurassic Adventure," "Dragonfly Swings" and the "Surf and Slide."

The 315th Airlift Wing's mini C-17 will be on display both days as well as two MRAP vehicles from Force Protection. To help keep things cool during the picnic, the base is offering free admission to the base swimming pool on Friday and Saturday.

Additional picnic highlights include music by the Blue Dogs and a Travel Expo on June 11. A yard sale, a car show and live music by "The First Class Band" are scheduled for June 12.
