Air Force PT testing revisions

Headquarters U.S. Air Force has added new revisions to the new physical training standards in an effort to streamline and incentivize the program beginning July 1.

Air Force Reserve airmen who score 90 or above when testing in all four categories (1.5 mile run, abdominal circumference measurement, push-ups and sit-ups), may test once a year for tests completed after June 30.

Airmen who score an "Excellent" but were medically exempt from testing in 1 or more of the 4 categories must still test twice a year.

Airmen must test under the new standards to qualify for the annual retest date. Therefore, after June 30, Airmen who score 90 or above in all 4 categories will retest by the last day of the month, twelve calendar months following the previous "Excellent" test date.

Additionally, installation commanders will now have the option to appoint trained Physical Training Leaders to augment the Fitness Assessment Cells if the FAC is not fully staffed on July 1 and during future periods where there may be gaps in FAC manning.

AFRC gives more info on PT testing revisions at, http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123205012.

These PTLs will be appointed in writing and must be trained and certified in accordance with AFI 36-2905. PTLs will conduct fitness assessments at the installation commander approved FAC location and will not test members from their own unit.

PTLs will be used sparingly to minimize the additional duty burden on our Airmen. Use of PTLs must be documented for compliance review purposes.
