Lt Col appreciates southern hospitality Published Aug. 27, 2009 CHARLESTON AFB, S.C. -- The commander of the 315th Airlift Wing, Colonel Steven Chapman, would like to share the gratitude he received from Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Richard T. Ford, Sr. on the warm hospitality he received during the Wing's 40th Anniversary Gala event. Lt. Col. (ret) Ford was a World War II C-47 pilot. He flew in numerous combat missions throughout Europe during the war. "Dear Col. Chapman, Thanks for the privilege of allowing me to attend and participate in the 40th anniversary celebration of the 315th AW last weekend. The hospitality and warm reception extended to both Lt. Col. Stewart and me were memorable in the highest southern tradition. I hope that my brief remarks at the banquet helped guests recognize the level of performance we strived to achieve and the pride we associated with the numbers '315' which were created to indentify our WWII Troop Carrier Group. During my association with the senior officers of the 315th Airlift Wing during the past several years, I have learned to recognize and appreciate the high standards which we set are not only being met, but are continually being elevated in the execution of your similar military mission. Respectfully, Richard T. Ford, Sr. Lt. Col. (retired) USAF"
