The 628th Air Base Wing, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, will hold its official change of command ceremony July 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

Col. Marc Greene, installation commander, will relinquish command to Col. Michael Freeman, inbound from the 92nd Mission Support Group, Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington.

Joint Base Charleston hosts more than 60 DoD and federal agencies. The wing provides installation support to a total force of more than 70,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents, and retirees across four installations, including Charleston AFB and Naval Weapons Station Charleston.

As a hub for Air Force mobility, the 628th ABW directly supports the deployment of Airmen and aircraft worldwide in support of contingency operations that involve the airland and airdrop delivery of forces, equipment, and supplies. These missions support combat operations, Joint Chiefs of Staff-directed special operations missions and United States-sponsored humanitarian relief efforts. The command is responsible for $7.5 billion in base property and capital assets, and controls an annual budget exceeding $172 million.

We graciously request your presence at the change of command ceremony as we welcome Col. Freeman to the Lowcountry as the new commander of Joint Base Charleston.

Please RSVP by 4:30 p.m. July 13, 2022, to secure access to the ceremony. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Col. Freeman will be available for remarks. For reservations or any questions, please email 1st Lt. Victor Reyes (victor.reyes.9@us.af.mil) or Staff Sgt. Dawn Weber (dawn.weber@us.af.mil).
