HURRICANE IDALIA UPDATE:

8-29-2023 | 2 p.m.

The installation is still closely monitoring Hurricane Idalia for potential base impacts. The strongest winds are expected between the hours of 8 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m.Thursday.

Base services should have minimal closures tomorrow, with normal duty hours (Wednesday). Depending on the strength and speed of the storm, as well as local safety hazard considerations, the base is planning to implement a rolling start to Thursday morning. The CDC, base schools, and other services may be affected, but stand by for further information. The retirement seminars from Ms. Hatch will be rescheduled to a future date.

The base will be at HURCON 3 by 3 p.m. today, with HURCON 2 by tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.. Please take the time this afternoon to clean up any loose items around your facilities and make appropriate preparations. Continue to monitor relevant social media and the wing’s mobile app for up-to-date weather information.
