Joint Base monitoring Hurricane Michael potential impacts to the installation Published Oct. 10, 2018 By 628th Air Base Wing JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Forecasters are monitoring the potential impacts of Hurricane Michael across South Carolina, including Joint Base Charleston for tomorrow, Oct. 11. As poor as conditions will be today, they will steadily worsen tonight as Hurricane Michael draws into closer proximity of the area. The National Weather Service anticipates tropical storm conditions will overspread the forecast zones from southwest to northeast depending on how quickly Hurricane Michael diminishes in strength from a hurricane to a tropical storm. JB Charleston officials are working closely with local emergency preparedness officials and are receiving regular updates about the weather from the National Weather Service. As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the storm to determine the potential impact on the installation. Currently, the installation is scheduled to be open tomorrow and operate under normal schedules.
