JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The 315th Airlift Wing mobile app now offers a feature allowing Airmen to send messages directly to the wing command chief through a new feature called Chief’s Corner.
“During the wing tactical pause, several Airmen approached me on getting information to the wing leadership,” said Chief Master Sgt. John-Paul Burke, 315th AW command chief. “We listened and implemented an idea brought forward by Master Sgt. Jason Robeson, 315th Operations Support Squadron first sergeant.”
“This new section of the 315th AW app lets any member anywhere in the world send a message directly to me,” Chief Burke said. “Great ideas, concerns, critiques on processes, or recognizing awesomeness are some topics I hope come forward. Unless something is unlawful, unethical, immoral, or your personal safety is in jeopardy; personal data will not be shared outside of you and I. I will however, share the general theme of the message with any office that your email brings up.”
“This is meant to be an extension of my open door policy, not a side step of your chain of command,” the Command Chief added.
With nearly 3,000 downloads since its inception just over 3 years ago, the 315th AW app continues to grow with wing member needs. Currently the most popular features are the unit training assembly schedule, urgent push alerts, the wing phone listing and medical and fitness information.
Users can access the Chief’s Corner in the app by simply clicking on the more button at the bottom right of the main page, then choosing Chief’s Corner from the list. Users on the ios platform will notice when they click to e-mail the chief, the wing app will open a new e-mail message. Android users will see a selection of share options pop up; only the e-mail option will contact the chief. Be sure to add a subject line in your e-mail so the chief knows the topic you are e-mailing about.
“I encourage everyone in the wing – from Airman to Colonel, and civilians too—to take advantage of our wing app,” said Col. Gregory Gilmour, 315th AW commander. “If you don’t already have the app, get it. I guarantee the app has something in there for everyone.”
The free 315th AW app can be downloaded from your app store.
