Local Charleston Church feeds deploying Airmen Published Jan. 9, 2017 By Master Sgt. Shane Ellis 315th Airlift Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Airmen from the 315th Airlift Wing Security Forces Squadron enjoyed a pizza luncheon Jan. 6, 2017 at Joint Base Charleston. A Charleston area church provided the pizza, which is a show of support for deploying Airmen and led by the 315th AW Chaplaincy Service. Maj. Aaron Meadows, 315th AW chaplain, said a lot of local congregations come to the chapel and want to know how they can help support the men and women of Joint Base Charleston. “Folks in our community want to support the troops,” said Meadows. “We provide a specific way to make that happen, and we are always happy to provide our services and help local community members reach out and show their support.” Maj. Jeff Gabor, 315th SFS commander, said he has 40 Airmen who are scheduled for deployment and this show of support is much appreciated. “Meadows has been really good reaching out to us with anything we need,” said Gabor. “He recently offered to feed our Airmen, and I can’t thank him enough.” According to Gabor, the show of support from the community and 315th AW Chaplain Service goes a long way to help keep morale high for Airmen who sacrifice a lot. “We deploy often, and we work hard,” said Gabor. “When we have people in our community showing their support for what we do it helps keep spirits high. And, the ongoing support we receive from the chaplains is greatly appreciated from all of us at the 315th Security Forces Squadron.”
