315 AW wins big at AFRC comm excellence awards

The 315th Airlift Wing won big Air Force Reserve Command’s 2018 Public Affairs Awards for Communication Excellence, according to a Nov. 2 announcement from AFRC leadership.

Of the 10 categories, 315 AW Public Affairs took four, and 4th Combat Camera took two.  The categories won by the 315 AW are:

  • Maj Henry H. “Hap” Arnold Award for Public Affairs Communication Effectiveness: 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, SC.
  • Best Innovation Award: 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, SC. 
  • Outstanding Communication Field Grade Officer (O-4 – O-5) Award: Maj Wayne Capps, 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, SC.
  • Best of the Best Award: Maj Wayne Capps, 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, SC.
  • SSgt Christopher S. Frost Outstanding Communication Noncommissioned Officer (E-5 - E- 6) Award: TSgt Thomas Grimes, 4th Combat Camera Squadron, Joint Base Charleston, SC.
  • Best Crisis Communication Award: 4th CTCS, Joint Base Charleston, SC.

“Congratulations to the following units and individuals who won first place,” said Maj. Gen. Kenneth Lewis Jr., AFRC deputy commander. The winners go forward to represent Air Force Reserve Command in the Air Force-level competition.
